Places We Go : Holiday Decorating with Friends, 2024

Happy Holidays! It's time for my annual installment of Christmas decor from my readers. Don't you love seeing your friends and family's Christmas decorations? Let's take a look.

In Oregon City, OR, Connie's annual homegrown tree never disappoints. Paper garlands of Norwegian flags have always been a staple. That's the thing with friends' trees. You can always find things that bring back warm memories. And if you look closer, you might find ornaments you once gave your friend.

It's a big tree!

Connie found this midCentury French ornament at a garage sale. She bought it even though she had to glue it back together. Adorable!

Her displays are always fun. The Kremlin tower is a souvenir from Connie&Andy's 1977 trip to the USSR.

In an old bookcase, Connie corralled some of her handmade wooden Santas. I still have some she made me.

Atop a hutch is Connie's annual disco scene. This year, she used her mom&grandma's 1956 plastic trees, along with pinecone people from the same era.

Moving south to Stockton, CA, Kimberly's sophistacted tree is decorated with handmade ornaments.

I love how she's decorated her living room mantel.

Kimberly's mother-in-law's bejeweled ornaments are displayed in a glass bowl. That's a special way to treasure memories.

And now over to Sisters, OR where Ruthann&Bobby had their first visitor last week.

Fresh greens decorate a hutch - must smell so good.

Ruthie will have her inside tree up until later today but the neighbors have two outside trees brightly lit. I look forward to seeing a bit of a "new" look on her tree. That's the thing - we all have memory-filled "stock" to change around each year.

Ruthann and Bobby weren't able to cut their annual tree in the forest around Sisters this year. This noble fir is an admirable alternative. As an added bonus, it snowed there on Christmas. I hope you enjoy your rooms and have wonderful holidays this year.
