Happy Hour : Table Clothes
Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.
Happy 4th! Almost everyone of us has a red gingham tablecloth. If you're in a celebratory mood, why not take a Happy Hour (and this one will take less that one hour!) and decorate your table? I'm calling this short article "Table Clothes" because dressing your table can be fun (and quick) when you raid your bed linen closet.

Couldn't we sew up this tablecloth using an old sheet? It looks about sheet weight. Or, an Etsy buy for $58.40 for a 52"x96" cloth.

Any bed throw would work for a casual meal.
If a tablecloth seems like too much work, fold dishtowels or a sheet into a runner and add a few flags.

If you're not into red-white-blue or using bed linens, I get it. How about this luscious sienna linen for an alfresco luncheon? The bundle comes with a linen tablecloth, placemats and napkins for $225. And, IKEA has similar chairs for $20 each in a similarly "weathered" wood.

If money were no object, I'd love this traditional mudcloth tablecloth (70"x90"). It's priced at $425. "This St. Frank piece, made in central Mali, is comprised of Malian cotton, dyed with mud-based pigment from the Niger river, and decorated with geometric patterns drawn in soap," according to the st. frank website. I'm in love!
If you have a minute, send me a photo of your festive table (Kathleen@decorbook.com). In the meantime, enjoy your 4th!
