Happy Hour : Quick Summer Update
Don't you love the month of August? No holidays. No expectations. That got me thinking. Why not celebrate August like we're living in a beach house? And, since I was missing my blue&white stuff, yesterday was the day to "go to the beach." Let's see what happened.
Here's the view from sunroom into living room. That's a blue and white Ikat rug (from Target) on the sofa arm. All the "decorating" was bringing stuff up from the basement with one exception. I forgot I had a fabric remnant (from Joann's - a good deal if I could work around the oil spots) and decided it was now or never to make 2 pillow covers. I also cut some white burlap, fringed the edges and put in a table top tray (see top photo). The rest was just fluffing pillows and arranging some summery stuff.
Have to admit that Saturday did get off to a rocky start as my sewing machine had a melt down. It turned out it was me - I had pressed something on the screen that locked it up.
All finished - 26" squares, down stuffing from IKEA.
Summer fireplace screen (from Ross Stores, originally painted yellow with a garden scene) and shells on the mantel.
Mantel close up. Love to put out summery postcards from friends.
Living room to entry way. Those blue pillows were originally a Target shower curtain.
Guest bath counter top.
Entry table - glass balls under the table.
Old necklaces on my friend in the entry way. That headpiece is my new $20 shell necklace from TJ Maxx.
Entry way bench topped with a traditional Moroccan towel (Thanks, Ruthie!)
Even Jimmy is decked out in blue. Enjoy your rooms this August!
