Happy Hour : Late Spring Quick Change
Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?" You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun. Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour. Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating. In this series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.
Yesterday, it was super foggy in Oakland, CA. With spring weather taking a break, it was the perfect time for a Happy Hour. Just 60 minutes to do something fun. Time to bring out blue&white pottery and pillow covers, a few tropical leaves and coconuts. Easily done in a hour. Let's take a quick tour around our main floor and see how it turned out.
From the living room to the entryway. There's a bright spring/summer market painting we bought in Jamaica.
A spring look with IKEA plants in a blue&white Spode bowl, a blue&white candy tin (Etsy) and pillow covers (blue linen from Amazon and I sewed the printed cover).
In the living room, I leaned an African barbershop haircut painting against the wall. See the fog rolling in?
I'm on a mission to get a new fireplace insert. Here in Northern California, we use our fireplace on foggy spring and summer days.
The sunroom with blue&white pillow covers I made from a Target shower curtain.
My chair in the sunroom and today's reading material. Love my magazines!
We bought the painting on the kitchen wall when we got married in Jamaica just 31 years ago May 1st. In the sunroom, just beyond, you can see some of the bookcase we put in when we first moved in.
For spring/summer, I like to mix up the books by adding more with blue covers.
A tray in guest bathroom includes a little canvas I had painted ultramarine blue, straight out of the tube. Well, that's yesterday's Happy Hour - just a few trips to the basement to get some blue&white and it feels like we're almost into summer! Now if the fog will break...
