Color Game : Very Peri / 2022 Pantone Color of the Year
Dear Readers: I've missed you as my last post was on December 5th. On December 9th, my beloved P was rushed to the hospital with heart failure and a few days later, he came home to hospice. We set up his hospital bed in the living room where our windows look out above the tree canopy and from where he could watch his beloved raptors soar. Unfortunately, P passed away on January 3rd. It's been just a month and I'm still in shock as you can imagine. P always called our home my "play house." And so, I've started making plans to "play" by doing house projects I've only dreamt about. So far, I know I need to keep busy and I know P would approve. I'll keep you posted as the months go by. In the meantime, I look forward to knowing we've got our Sunday mornings back at DecorBook.

Let's start DecorBook this year with 2022's Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri. This is the first time Pantone has actually created a new color for its color of the year. This blue shade, with purple undertone, is supposed to brighten up any room. Hmm. Let's look at some Very Peri rooms.
"PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression," according to Pantone's website. I like encouraging "courageous creativity."
But so far, this color is too much for me.

A gorgeous periwinkle blue table cloth. Such a strong color looks great with blue&white.
Or maybe Better Homes & Gardens has the right idea. Mix Very Peri with related colors.
This pretty room uses Very Peri as an accent.
OK. I admit it. I'm not warming up to Very Peri. But I do love love, love, love this room with its faded violet blue, black and metallics. One good thing aobout the Pantone Color of Year is that it gets us thinking. If you have a minute, please let me know your thoughts.

Pantone has been choosing an annual color for over twenty years. As Pantone describes their annual choices as "color snapshots of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” Look for the Color of the Year to influence fashion and home decor.
