Color Game : A Grown-Up Pink Bedroom

With all the horrific news last month, I'd like to provide a girly diversion today. This is not important, but I'm just wondering if a woman of a certain age can enjoy a pink bedroom. Let's take a look.

Last spring, I introduced the color pink in my bedroom. I slipcovered my headboard and made a slipcover for the chair pillow. I used the "wrong side" of a Waverly fabric because it was more muted.

Last month, I bought these metal candlesticks on Sundance.com. They were half price at $34 with free shipping. I bought the top two books at an estate sale with Sue last year. I'm slowly getting my pink accessories gathered.

Next I'll choose a color to paint the eight sconce lampshades in the room. Doesn't seem like I've found the right pink yet, but I did find very inexpensive (about $1 each) "candle cover sleeves" on Amazon. I taped some white paper on the one on the right just to see. How did these offwhite ones got so beat up? I wonder if you're like me as I can spend hours fiddling with this kind of thing. This is one of my best kinds of fun.

Now, I've truly put the horse before the cart. My real project is to replace the 1990 gas fire insert with one more energy efficient. Since we moved in, I've kept it hidden behind this screen. P&I always joked that the fireplace surround must have been made on a Friday with scraps of wood and 12x12 green floor tile. It's been driving me crazy for 26 years.

My plan is to have my tiler use Carrara marble pieces I can buy locally. The stone in the photo is too fancy but you get the idea of the shape. When that's finished, Anthony will put in a gas insert to match the one he did in the living room.

Jesus will paint the walls a pale pink and I'll paint my lampshades to finish a grown-up pink (more or less) girly bedroom. As you know, sometimes the process is as much fun as the finished product. Hope you're doing something fun. Enjoy your Sunday!

P.S. - If you haven't seem these movies, they're still around in theaters. Guaranteed terrific entertainment : Wicked, A Complete Unknown (even if you're not a Bob Dylan fan), Conclave and on Netflix, Emilia Perez. I've seen them all and truly can't pick a favorite for the Oscars on March 2.
