Places We Go : Portland Traditional
Hey house, you had me at pea gravel. Looking at listings in my old Portland (OR) neighborhood, I stumbled upon this 1928 traditional house on a wonderful leafy street. A bright yellow door, interesting windows and an amazing courtyard, filled with pea gravel. What's not to love? Let's take a closer look.
A Mediterranean front courtyard and custom made iron gate (right). Oh, are those cypress trees?
The living room - love the reworked modern fireplace.
Flooded with light, the view to front door.
I adore a matt black wall in such a sunny space.
A bright kitchen and family room.
The three bedrooms are upstairs. Here's the principal bedroom with blackout blinds - simple and practical.
A view of the backyard from the house. More pea gravel and a new artist shed (right).
Turns out this house was on the market for just 5 days and as of yesterday, is pending. Someone is getting a beauty. If you're looking for a diversion, travel to a few open houses online. I love looking at Manhattan penthouses, Key West cottages and French farm houses especially.
