A glamorous green velvet oversize headboard.

Around here, headboards have been done on the cheap. An old white matelasse bedspread covers a length of plywood (overstuffed with foam and batting) in our guest room.

In our principle bedroom, another "homemade" headboard came from a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. Home Depot cut the length for me and then P and I padded with foam and batting. It's covered with velvet damask fabric from Berkeley's Discount Fabrics. When I'm tired of this, I'll make a slipcover in another fabric.
Hope you got a bit inspired and look forward to hearing about your own headboard ideas. With so many affordable options, don't all beds deserve a headboard?
