posted on

Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?"  You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun.  Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour.  Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating.

In this new series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour.  Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.

T-R-A-Y, the perfect four-letter word.  Theatrical, timeless, tantalizing and totally terrific.  What better way to spotlight a collection or corral the clutter?  Maybe I've overdone it a bit - this morning, I counted 11 trays showing and there's more squirreled away out of sight.  If you're not using trays already, I promise you'll be addicted once you start.  In fact, I bet you have one hidden away just waiting to make its entrance.  Let's take a look at some terrific uses for trays.

Happy Lunar New Year!  Did you know that the Lunar New Year is celebrated by a quarter of the world's population?  It's fun to see local flower markets bulging with quince and other flowering branches. Christmas, 2018

This Christmas, I was all set for a natural Scandinavian Christmas.  Connie even sent homemade Fattigman (Norwegian cookies) so I was definitely in the mood.  But as I opened the 6 boxes of Christmas decorations left from my summer purge, it seemed like a good idea to just get everything out and see what was left.  Santas & their assorted red fun gathered on the 2nd floor so the main floor could be left more "Scandinavian" with white snowflakes at the windows, mossy green pillow covers and mercury glass trees and balls.  It turned out to be almost a winter wonderland that could be Scandinavian...

Christmas Among Friends

Friends of DecorBook have been particularly busy this holiday season.  Let's take a look at 3 spectacular ideas - I'm sure you'll notice that the key is each artist's eye for detail.  Kimberly (Hayward, CA) has taken repurposing costume jewelry to a new level in creating these magnificent trees.  This one is aptly called the Noel Tree.
