Happy Hour : Home Plates

posted on

Every been in a restaurant when it turns "Happy Hour?"  You notice the mood instantly changes as everyone is ready for fun.  Whenever I'm having a Bad Hair Day, my cure is always a personal Happy Hour.  Of course, I'm hopeless addicted to interiors; so for me, this hour is all about decorating.

In this new series, we'll look at some quick and happy mood changers for our very own Happy Hour. Each should take about an hour - a mere 60 minutes - to perk up our minds and our rooms. Let's get the party started.

Our Oakland A's are batting just over .500, but you know you have decorating-on-the-brain when that sparks another quick and easy Happy Hour.  Home plates.  Yep, real home plates!  Decorating with plates is an inexpensive and colorful way to decorate our rooms.  What's more, you probably have all the stock you need right in your cupboard.  Let's take a look at some stunning home plates - easily mounted during Happy Hour.

Even tin plates in a bathroom look amazing.  In our bathroom, we have a blue&white plate of two rabbits playing mahjong.  Now, if they were only playing baseball.  Hit a home run in your next Happy Hour!  XOX

  • Hi, James! I use plate hangers (about $2 at the hardware store) to keep things neat and tidy. Kinda reminds me of the plate spinner guy on Ed Sullivan. You don’t want anything crashing down. K

  • Great idea, Sue! The Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale has to have a ton of decorative plates. Look forward to the search!
