As we're getting ready for Thanksgiving vacation, I was thinking of affordable projects anyone could do in a day or two.  What about updating a staircase?  Ours is covered with carpet so we're a bit stuck, but that doesn't mean I can't dream.  Don't you love this trompe l'oeil black runner?  It's amazing what an impact a little paint makes.  Let's take a look at the impact of just changing the risers - easily done with paint, stickers, stencils or wallpaper.

Glorious wallpaper - imagining floating up to bedrooms in an old country house.  If you're lucky enough to have a staircase with wooden risers, how about changing them up?  I'm almost ready to rip the carpet off our staircase.
